Internship at 98 Rock

Below is the internship description and evaluation provided by Marketing Manager Jessica Deike:

At 98 Rock I collaborated cross departmentally to develop and execute promotions for the online community, trade shows, events, and the radio.

Written During The Internship:

In my current position at 98 Rock, I have an opportunity to meet and work with sponsors. I will be able to learn how 98 Rock satisfies their sponsors directly when I host promotions, write promotion recaps, prepare proposals, and press releases. 98 Rock is paid to promote products and events of its own and outside companies. Promotion is the theme of a majority of their activities. To have the ability to plan and execute live promotions of my own and compose the written counterparts will be useful in all aspects of my business. Sponsors are more inclined to be a party with producers who have powerful promotion outlets.

98 Rock interns are permitted to contribute to promotion plan meetings organized every Wednesday. Initially, I can watch the various executives piece together a promotion. Eventually, I will contribute and get feedback from the executives about my input. Leading the promotion execution is another role for the interns at 98 Rock. After we participate in the crafting of a promotion, we interact with the sponsors and listeners in a manner that reflects the promotion goals. These live promotions depend upon the communication between the promotion intern, the sponsor, and the listeners, to be successful.

98 Rock is a part of the music industry which uses events for various reasons. 98 Rock implements at least five events per week; they have done this for decades. They have developed a protocol from a deep well of experience. It is infinitely useful to learn this protocol and the ways in which it was developed. Fortunately, I will be directly applying 98 Rock’s long developed event planning protocol for various event formats and venues under the direction of the executives who created it. The need for most of these directives is apparent upon their implementation because the amount of added efficiency is significant.

Another ability I would like to learn while at 98 Rock is how to attain sponsors. 98 Rock leverages its broadcasting position by convincing businesses to pay them to promote their company, event, or product. I strive to learn the different approaches and options they use to gain sponsorship. My supervisor, Jessica Deike, can make sure that I understand the subtlety of seeking sponsorship. Getting a sponsorship practically involves the same procedure as applying for a job. In both instances, the applicant must show a portfolio or resume. It is also necessary to show that goals can be developed and implemented.
