FairSwap is a platform where someone can showcase and exchange her “item” for something that she desires. The goal is not to sell the item and get money, but to make everyone on the platform to get something she really wants by giving up something else she doesn’t need.
This is not traditional bartering, which requires both parties have something that the other party wants. In practice, you often have to go through a long chain of bartering to finally get the thing you really want. However, it’s hard to satisfy each party on the chain; they all need to get something they like as well. FairSwap aims to facilitate the exchange across multiple parties. You can get anything (under some conditions) you see on FairSwap, without worrying if the other party wants your item.
Online sales sites like EBay and Craigslist can be potential competitors. There are also Apps such as 5 miles that allow people to sell their things via phone. FairSwap is not another online sales website. You don’t sell things but exchange things for something else. At the moment, there are barter website, but they all run into the problem that two parties have to have what the other party like to make exchange happen.
