WEEK #10 RESULTS & HIGHLIGHTS
Approaching the midway point of the regular season in the WFBL just seven of 18 teams have winning records. Cleveland, Philly, and defending league champion Vancouver hold the divisional pennant leads.
At Emerald City, the EUGENE EMERALDS (7-3) powered past the visiting BOSTON BULLDOGS (4-5-1) at 8-3 for the Ems fourth straight victory. Ronald Acuna Jr, Juan Soto, and Oneil Cruz bulked up the Eugene offense in the big win.
The defending WFBL champion VANCOUVER CUBS (9-1) romped past the RAYNE RAJIN' CAJUNS (4-6) by a 10-2 final score, handing the Cajuns their third straight defeat and fifth loss in six games. Ian Happ and Pete Alonso powered the Cubbies to victory.
On the road at Peach Tree Park, the PHILADELPHIA ATHLETICS (9-1) won their fourth straight in a 9-3 victory over the host GEORGIA PINES (3-6-1) that left the hosts winless in their own last five games. Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Bryan Woo led the A's pitching staff.
The SAINT LOUIS CARDINALS (6-4) remained red hot with a fifth straight win, this one a 10-2 rout of the visiting MONTREAL EXPOS (2-7-1) at Busch Stadium. Michael Harris and JP Crawford led the Cards attack in the win.
At Mohawk Park, the host BRANTFORD BISONS (5-4-1) came out on top of a back-and-forth battle with the ALABAMA FARMERS (2-8) by 7-5, sending the Farm Boys to their fifth consecutive defeat. Brantford was led by Ben Rice at the plate and the strong return of ace Gerrit Cole to the rotation.
The visiting CLEVELAND SPIDERS (6-3-1) stayed on top of the Kalas/South-Central Division by cooling off the host LAS VEGAS HIGH ROLLERS (5-5) in a 7-5 win at World Series of Poker Stadium. Jarren Duran, Andy Pages, and Willy Adames led the Cleveland attack.
The NEW YORK KNIGHTS (5-4-1) stormed into Werner Park and slayed the host OMAHA STORM CHASERS (4-4-2) by a 10-2 score. It was a fourth win in five games for the Knights who were led by Yordan Alvarez at the plate and Jack Leiter on the mound.
At Avista Stadium, the visiting DETROIT DRILLERS (5-5) took down the SPOKANE INDIANS (3-7) by a 7-4 final, the Tribe's sixth loss in seven games. Detroit was led by Davis Martin, Trevor Megill, and JJ Bleday.
The host PORTLAND WOLFPACK (4-6) took a bite out of the HORSHAM CHARGERS (3-7) with a 7-5 victory at the Wolf Den. This was the Bolts fourth consecutive defeat. The Pack was led by Braxton Ashcraft on the mound and the bats of Tyler Soderstrom and Trent Grisham.
