Oaksey House

The club presented a cheque for £5,000 to the Injured Jockey’s Fund (IJF) in a recent visit to Oaksey House. The Club Chairman and Secretary travelled to the IJF rehabilitation centre located in Lambourn to make the presentation. On hand to receive the cheque was Derby winning jockey Martin Dwyer.

Oaksey House was opened in 2009 by HRH The Princess Royal who is the IJF Patron. The centre provides specialist rehabilitation treatment for physical and neurological injuries. It houses a state of the art gym and hydrotherapy pool.

The club has now collected over £10k for IJF through the kind of support land owners. If you can offer land for this cause or indeed any charity the club will be pleased to hear from you.

Berkshire FLO

Philip Smither, the Finds Liaison Officer (FLO) for Berkshire, recently attended a club social evening. As the Berkshire representative of the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) he records historical artefacts submitted on a voluntary basis and items falling under the Treasure Act.

With the regular attendance of Philip at future club nights we are hoping to increase the recording of artefacts which are logged onto a national database.
