Pressure which is being pulled upward by the hairdryer balances the downward force of gravity , it helps the ball by "levitating". The tricky part of the project is to move the ball along with the hairdryer and angling it. The Bernoulli Principle states that fast moving fluids including gases inside the air are at a lower pressure than slow moving fluids, the air-stream from the hair dryer is at a lower pressure than the air outside or surrounding the hairdryer waves. A ball that is smaller than the diameter of air-stream can balance it , if the ball starts falling out of the hairdryers air stream to one side then the higher pressure of the air outside of the air stream will push the ball back into the center. This process enables the ball to balance inside of the waves of the hairdryer and allowing it to move around along with the hairdryer.
The Bernoulli Effect underlies the principle of the aerofoil. By encouraging air to flow quickly over the top of the surface .This phenomenon can also be demonstrated by holding up two sheets of paper and blowing between them. Instead of moving apart, they are drawn together.

Procedures :
Locate the hair dryer , so that the outlet is pointing directly upwards and turn on.
Place the ball carefully into the flow from the hairdryer. It will balance in the air, appearing to levitate!
Gently move the hairdryer from one side to the other soon the ball will stay in the air stream, You can try to move back and forth to move the ball in different directions.
Carefully tilt the hairdryer and the ball will still stay in the air-stream, hanging on to mid-air with nothing directly underneath it.
You can use different size of balls from large to small , but not to small. change them occasionally during the procedures to challenge the air-stream. something might change.
