Laboratory Simulations

A simulation device was built to capture data. This device contains 3 Arduinos with accelerometers and gyroscopes situated in the front, the middle and the back of the ‘boat’. With a string-pulley system we simulate the movement of a real boat while saving the data in 3 SD Cards.

The post-processing of this data has been done by Excel handling. The main difficulty was to synchronize the data time between the 3 Arduinos in order to draw a correct graph. The two goals are to detect peaks of more than 1 G force and also to know the inclination angle that has the boat in each moment. To detect the angle we use the vector addition of the three accelerometers measurements.

Simulations of two minutes duration have been done having a serial of interesting data. The peaks of force have been near the 0.6 G forces.
