El Nido, Palawan Experiments

A series of experiments were conducted in El Nido, Palawan last December 2012. El Nido, Palawan is a largely touristic coastal city that continuosly accepts a large amount of foreighn as well as local tourists daily. These experiments were aimed mostly for the tourism sector, however one of the small bangkas used fits the profile of small fishing vessels.

The complete device was tested in El Nido, Palawan. Several different tests were done obtaining the following results:

BIG LAGOON TRIP:

Boat: Man Romi Boat

Size: 10 m long and 3m width

Sea condition: Cloudy, naughty sea

Distance: 1h go and back

ISLAND HOOPING TRIP

Boat: Tourist boat

Size: 12 m long and 5m width

Sea condition: Sunny, calm sea

Distance: 6 hours with intermediate stops

Time: same day, same area near the coast

A small bouy was done to measure the movements direct from de sea. The device was also put in the stopped boat. This diagram compare both data:

We use this trip to compare two different sea conditions with the same boat.
