Meet Your Therapist

Karen S. Waugh, LISW-S

Welcome! I’m Karen Waugh, a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Supervisor (LISW-S), dedicated to guiding adults through transformative growth with over 25 years of enriching experience.

Born and educated in Columbus, I hold both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree from The Ohio State University in Social Work. My professional path has been as diverse as it has been fulfilling, spanning roles from administrator to workshop facilitator across various educational and healthcare settings. I’ve also shared my knowledge and passion as an adjunct faculty member at Columbus State Community College within the Mental Health/Addiction Studies/Developmental Disabilities program.

My therapeutic approach is as individual as you are. Blending psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral techniques, I work with you to uncover unconscious patterns that influence behavior, fostering a deeper understanding between thoughts, emotions, and actions. Cognitive-behavioral therapy hones in on challenging and modifying unhelpful beliefs, while psychodynamic therapy delves into emotional patterns and experiences.

I strive to create an environment where insights blossom into meaningful change, always with an empathetic ear and a commitment to your well-being. As an advocate for inclusivity, I am proud to be an LGBTQ ally.

Your journey towards healing and empowerment is honored here. Let’s embark on it together.
