Karen S. Waugh, LISW-S

Karen is a Licensed Independent Social Worker-SUPV (LISW-S), specializing in working with adult individuals and couples with over 25 years of experience.

A native of Columbus, Karen completed both the Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at The Ohio State University, College of Social Work. In addition to private practice work, her professional experience includes practice as an administrator, educator and workshop facilitator within public, private, academic, and corrections settings. Karen also served as an adjunct faculty member with Columbus State Community College, Mental Health/Addiction Studies/Developmental Disabilities program, for five years.

While Karen is mindful to tailor her work with clients to their individual needs, her approach to therapy combines psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioral therapy techniques. Psychodynamic therapy focuses on unconscious patterns of behavior and the relationship between the therapist and client. Cognitive-behavioral therapy focuses on challenging the clients' beliefs and thoughts to transform emotions and behavior. Providing insightful, empathetic and confidential services to adults is Karen's passion-work. Karen is an LGBTQ ally.
