Title: Semantic Integration of Multiple Health Data Sources for Treatment Decision-making (SemTreat Project)

Abstract

Accurate treatment decision-making is essential in order to formulate appropriate treatment plans for the benefit of patients. It is also important that this is done in a non-obstructive manner whether the patient is physically available for physical examination in a clinical setting by a medical practitioner or in a remote location. Although real-time gait analysis has been used for the diagnosis of diseases that are associated with gait impairments, the need to improve on the performance of gait-based prediction by augmenting it with other sources of knowledge in a complementary way has been acknowledged. In contrast, to existing approaches, this research will investigate the semantic integration of multiple health data sources in order to improve the efficiency treatment decision making for some selected diseases that are associated with gait impairment that are relevant to the context of Austria and South Africa.
