I am Prof Olawande Daramola, a Computer Scientist with research specialisations in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Large Language Models (LLMs), Big Data Analytics, Semantic computing (Ontologies, NLP, Knowledge Graphs), Applied Software Engineering (ASE). ASE involves the application of artificial intelligence (AI) methods for the design and development of intelligent information systems. As an NRF-rated researcher, I am particularly interested in the use of AI methods (LLMs, ontologies, knowledge graphs) for enabling intelligent capabilities in software systems that are relevant to real-world domains such as healthcare, education, government, trade and commerce and so on. Some of my ongoing research projects include Explainable AI (XAI), AI for Healthcare, Domain-specific LLMs, and Health Data Science. I have successfully supervised many postgraduate (Master and PhD) students. I have served as an External Examiner to many universities across Africa, Asia, and Europe.
For research supervision, I am particularly eager to work with students who have good technical skills such as algorithm design, computer programming (Python/Java/C++/C#), software development (web, mobile), handling of empirical data, and good academic writing skills.
