The unknown pathways of the sheperds

A demanding walking and trekking route, an adventurous and fascinating way of reaching Psili Ammos, the remotest beach of the island. From Diakofti - Elia area we climb up to the mountain, enjoying a spectacular view of Grikos bay, Chora and the Monastery of St. John. Upon arriving at the small plateau, we make a 30 min long detour in order to admire from above the impressive geological formations of  Kambanaria (bell towers) and  Prassoniso. Upon returning to the plateau, we get back to the old and abandoned path of the sheperds, sliding downhill, passing through dry walls and traditional folds (mandria), at the "company" of the semi wild goats. At the last stage of the route the pathway enters into the small gorge which reaches its end at the sand dunes of Psili Ammos. A swim towards the sun is the best award after this demanding route. Return from the classical path to Diakofti's small tavern along the bay of Stavros.
