You can perform four fundamental rules of arithmetics in complex number with this calculator.
Perform them with following equations:
Addition:
(x₁+y₁i) + (x₂+y₂i) = (x₁+x₂) + (y₁+y₂)i
Subtraction:
(x₁+y₁i) − (x₂+y₂i) = (x₁−x₂) + (y₁−y₂)i
Multiplication:
(x₁+y₁i) × (x₂+y₂i) = (x₁x₂−y₁y₂) + (x₁x₂+y₁y₂)i
Division:
(x₁+y₁i) ÷ (x₂+y₂i) = [(x₁x₂+y₁y₂)/(x₂²+y₂²)] + [(y₁x₂−x₁y₂)/(x₂²+y₂²)]i
Press [MODE] [5], and you can set the calculation in complex number mode. In this case, “CPLX” appears on the display.
Let’s calculate in complex number. [MODE] [5] Set the CPLX mode.
Example:
(2 + 3i) + (4 + 5i) =
Press [=] key, and you can calculate in complex number.
As for the result of the operation:
Press [a] key, and you can get the value of the real number.
Press [b] key, and the imaginary number.
It is all the same whichever side you press first [a] or [b].
You don’t need to press 0 when either entries of [a] or [b] is 0.
