The Amateur Radio Transmitting Society is Louisville’s oldest ham radio club, founded in 1927.

ARTS is not a “Contest Club” a “Repeater Club” or a “DX Club”. We are not a special interest Club at all. We do, however, invite amateurs strongly interested in the different aspects of Ham Radio to join ARTS and promote their special interests. We welcome all amateurs from the newest technician to the most seasoned extra class. We encourage membership in ARRL, ARES, and RACES, and acknowledge the amateur radio operator’s responsibility to the public by providing emergency communications, encouraging members to improve their communication and technical skills, and by fostering international good will.

Some of our activities include providing communications for local public service events, participating in the ARRL’s annual Field Day on the 4th full weekend in June, and holding monthly meetings with informative and interesting topics. See the Club Events page and Club Calendar to learn what events the club currently has planned.

Weekly Net

The weekly net of the ARTS club is held every Thursday at 8:30pm eastern on our W4CN club repeater, 147.180 MHz +600KHz offset PL 79.7. The purpose of this net is primarily for amateurs to get to know one another better. We do this by welcoming announcements of upcoming events, by allowing participants to list equipment they want to buy, sell, or trade, and by providing a forum for the exchange of information. The net is open to all amateurs, you DO NOT have to be a member to check in. Download the net control script.
