Our Mission
The Vermont Science Teaching Association (VSTA), an affiliate of the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA), is committed to excellence in STEM curriculum and instruction in schools and expanded learning opportunities in communities throughout the state.
The VSTA supports professional learning opportunities for all STEM educators in the State of Vermont (elementary and secondary levels).
Ways in which the VSTA responds to this mission include:
• communication with membership of STEM learning opportunities
• coordination of conferences and workshops
• collaboration with the Vermont Agency of Education, and others on statewide initiatives
• encouragement of member involvement in STEM education leadership roles both statewide and nationally
The VSTA may work on targeted initiatives such as curriculum frameworks, standards and assessment, use of appropriate technology, STEM award programs, interdisciplinary learning, and expanded learning opportunities.
