Okhee Lee

Okhee Lee is a professor in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University. She is widely known for advancing research, policy, and practice that simultaneously promote science and language learning for all students, particularly multilingual learners. Lee was a member of the NGSS writing team and served as leader of the NGSS Diversity and Equity Team. Her research involves integrating science, language, and computational thinking with a focus on multilingual learners. Her latest work focuses on justice-centered STEM education to address pressing societal challenges using the case of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Bryan Brown

Bryan A. Brown is a professor of teacher education at Stanford University. His research interest explores the relationship between student identity, discourse, classroom culture, and academic achievement in science education. He focuses on the social connotations and cultural politics of science discourse in small-group and whole-group interaction. Additionally, his research work in science education examines how teacher and student discourse serve to shape learning opportunities for students in science classrooms. He conducts mixed methodological work exploring how race, language, and culture impact students learning in science classrooms.

Peter McLaren

Peter McLaren is the Executive Director of Next Gen Education, LLC and works as a consultant with states and districts in support of the implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards and other three-dimensional state science standards based on the Framework for K-12 Science Education (NRC, 2012). McLaren served as a member of the national writing committee for the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), the National Academy of Engineering's Guiding Implementation of K-12 Engineering Educationcommittee, and the National Academy of Science Committee for Developing Assessments for the Next Generation Science Standards in addition to other STEM and science related publications.
