Where is Harlan?

Harlan is located in the extreme southeast corner of Kentucky, in the  Kentucky coalfields and in the heart of Appalachia.

Access to Harlan from Interstate 75 is good.  From I75 take Exit 29, then follow US 25E south through Corbin (the birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken) and Barbourville.  Travel through Pineville, then shortly after leaving Pineville, turn left on US 119 North.  Remain on US 119 North for about 30 miles to Harlan (Harlan is about one hour and 15 minutes from Interstate 75).

From the south and the east, travel Interstate 81 to Kingsport/Johnson City TN, then take Interstate 26/US 23 North to Duffield Va, then turn onto US 421 North (west) to Harlan.  Note: US 421 is a twisty road - there are a number of turns on US 421 and some are easy to miss.  Just follow US 421 North.
