Cluster Removal

Here are some simple steps for removing an old cluster...

1. Disconnect speedometer cable from speedometer

meter

2. Remove two nuts (sometime wing nuts are used) at rear of cluster (they hold the cluster in the dash) ... one on each side of cluster

3. The cluster can then be accessed from the front of dash... simply push the cluster into the dash and it can then be "turned" upside down for easy access (I use a towel to protect dash and cluster/glass at this point), all wire,, bulb connections and the oil pressure line can then be disconnected ... be sure to "identify" wires and where they are attached at this point for re-connection

4. Disconnect temp sensor/capillary tube from engine, if mechanical gauge is used.

5. After wires and oil pressure line are disconnected, the cluster can be pulled out the front opening of the dash ... you will be pulling the capillary tube through firewall at this point with cluster (take care not to damage line and tube)
