Student Athlete Expectations

As a Vista High School Student-Athlete:

• Academics ALWAYS comes first! (2.0 TO PLAY).

• Attend ALL posted try-out dates

• Always arrive to practice on time and prepared to train hard

• Display a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and grow

• Follow and acclimate to the G.R.O.W Training Model- Goal setting, what is Realistic for each situation, Obstacles (constructive feedback) /Objectives (adjustments) and Way Forward (Adapt and overcome)

• Effective, clear, and respectful communication both on and off the field- PRAISE IN PUBLIC, DISAGREE IN PRIVATE- no snarking on the field- speak with coach in private when something is on your mind

• We are all here to have fun and support one another, both on and off the field

• All players must be willing to work together as a cohesive unit and play as a team during every practice and game!

• There is no minimum playing time on Varsity- we are competing to win on game-day! 

• You are setting an example for the younger players- they are watching you- please set a good example for them at all times- help set-up clean-up, carry equipment, etc...

• We are representing our school community it is both an honor and a privilege to play high school athletics- have high standards and hold each other accountable

• Train hard EVERY SINGLE DAY, your position is NEVER guaranteed from day to day!

• Coaches are also part of the team- it's always "WE".  Mutual trust and respect are based on this premise!
