The Vector Biology Laboratory focuses on developing novel genetic control strategy using a combination of genetics, genomics and molecular biology. The two broad areas of work in our laboratory are to understand (1) mechanisms of sex determination and transmission ratio distortion in mosquito; (2) diapause biology on the mosquito Culex pipiens, which is the primary vector for West Nile encephalitis, Eastern equine encephalitis, and many arboviruses, as well as lymphatic filariases.
