To show a video during the session, you can choose one of the 2 options:

Option 1 (recommended): share a link to the video

To share a link with your students, you can either:

A. Embed the link in your presentation - your students will be able to click on it when you get to that page of your presentation

B. Paste the link into the chat pod when you are ready for your students to open the link

C. Use the web link Pod (Go to Pods in the top menu, click on Web Links, select Add new Web links and follow instructions)

Pros:

The video can be shown in high quality
No need to upload anything
No need to transform the video into the right format - it can be shown as it is

Cons:

The video will not appear on the recordings of the class
For some students, their firewall may prevent YouTube access
If you choose options A or B above, students may watch the video
at a slightly different time (everyone will see it at the same time if you chose option C)

Option 2: Upload the video in advance

To upload your video, follow the instructions below:

1. Make sure your video is in the correct format.

Video requirements:

FLV file – 160 Kbits per second
384 pixels width x 288 pixels height for 4:3 ratio videos or 512 pixels width x 288 pixels height for 16:9 ratio videos
MP3 audio - 32 Kbits per second

If you need help transforming a video, please create a request at least 3 full business days in advance (Mon-Fri), using https://servicedesk.ie.edu/Transformar videos para webconference and attaching the video file to the request

Please note: all users uploading documents to IE Servers guarantee that the use of the information contained

in such documents is not subject to any restriction,

nor does it violate any third-party right

2. Upload the video by going to Pods in the top menu, clicking on the arrow on the right of Add New Share and selecting Share Documents. Click on Browse My Computer and select the video you'd like to share.

Pros:

All students will watch the video at exactly
the same time
You can play, pause or repeat the video
There are no firewall restrictions for students
Videos will appear on the recording of your
class

Cons:

Videos must be transformed
to the right format
The format allowed is of
relatively low quality

Please note that if you share your screen to show a video, your students will not hear the audio.
