VIOS Cliente NIM
Objetivo
Agregar/definir un Virtual I/O Server como cliente de NIM.
Procedimiento
1) Agregar en archivo /etc/hosts de NIM Server la línea:
# echo “10.1.4.126 vionodo2g vionodo2g.ose-ad.winose.com.uy” >> /etc/hosts
Verifico la resolución del nombre del VIOS vía arhivo HOSTS:
> ping -c 2 vionodo2g
PING vionodo2g: (10.1.4.126): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 10.1.4.126: icmp_seq=0 ttl=255 time=0 ms
64 bytes from 10.1.4.126: icmp_seq=1 ttl=255 time=0 ms
----vionodo2g PING Statistics----
2 packets transmitted, 2 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 0/0/0 ms
2) – En NIM Master definir la nueva máquina:
#smitty nim
> Perform NIM Administration Tasks
> Manage Machines
> Define a Machine
Opciones de Define a Machine:
Type or select values in entry fields.
Press Enter AFTER making all desired changes.

3) – Agregar en archivo /etc/hosts de VIO Server la línea:
# echo “10.1.4.254 nimserver nimserver.ose-ad.winose.com.uy” >> /etc/hosts
Verifico la resolución del nombre 'nimserver' vía arhivo HOSTS:
$ ping nimserver 2
PING nimserver: (10.1.4.254): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from 10.1.4.254: icmp_seq=0 ttl=255 time=0 ms

----nimserver PING Statistics----
2 packets transmitted, 2 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max = 0/0/0 ms
4 )– Configurar el Cliente NIM:
#smitty nim
> Configure Network Installation Management Client Fileset
> Configure Network Installation Management Client Fileset
Type or select values in entry fields.
Press Enter AFTER making all desired changes.
[Entry Fields]
* Machine Name [nimserver]
* Primary Network Install Interface [en0]
* Host Name of Network Install Master [nimserver]

5) – Probar que el servidor VIO vea recursos del NIM:
#smitty nim
> Install and Update Software
> Install Software
Debería aparecer, en este caso, un listado con los recursos lpp_source que están en NIM /export/lpp_source
