Response to Intervention is an approach to measuring students’ skills and using this data to decide which types of targeted teaching, or interventions, to use. These interventions can be part of classroom-wide instruction. They can also be part of guided math and small group differentiated instruction. Students who don’t make enough progress getting help during class may work on skills in small groups during other instructional times. As part of the RTI process, struggling students are taught using interventions that are research-based and proven methods of improving math skills.
