Urban Flood Model for Bangalore City

Bengaluru Megha sandesha application

To directly disseminate the rainfall and flood forecast information along with the location specific near-real time weather information to the citizens of Bangaluru, a mobile application, "Bengaluru Megha Sandesha" has been developed by the KSNDMC as a product of the UFM Project. The in-built features of the application and the information provided there, on experimental basis, are first of its kind in the country. The information provided through Bengaluru Megha Sandesha is based on real-time data from 100 Automatic Rain Gauges (ARG) , 12 Automatic Weather Sensors (A WS) installed by the KSNDMC across Bengaluru. The application enables the users to look for safer alternative routes based on high rainfall regions en-route. This is linked to the Google maps for easy navigation. Varunamitra web portal

The Varunamitra web portal is a dedicated dynamic web portal for weather information in the BBMP area. The portal includes the details on the zone-wise static Flood Vulnerable Areas (FVA), daily forecasts for rainfall, floods, etc., and real time details of the rainfall, and weather information from the network of the ARG and A W sensors.
