A crotchety and foul man of uncertain age (his own estimations vary depending on the time of day), Rufus LeMaire is a necromancer and self-proclaimed “scholar of arts both common and occult.”
Having spent his youth as an adventurer, Rufus has been privy to numerous battles, fought many villains, and, sadly, buried many a comrade. Burdened by the loss of so many friends and sickened by the world that permitted their untimely deaths, Rufus withdrew from society several decades ago, choosing instead to live in the uninhabited outskirts of Apex.
It was there that Rufus began studying necromancy, hoping to find a means to overcome the death that has haunted his entire life. Gifted with the many fallen corpses of Apex’ wars, Rufus was free to experiment with the forces of life and death over many years.
Yet, his goal of eternal life constantly eluded him. Despite years of study, Rufus could make no progress beyond simple reanimation; true lichdom remained impossible. Worse, the Order of the Burning Light's zeal to destroy all things necrotic in nature was beginning to encroach upon his work. With few years left to achieve immortality, Rufus decided to leave his self-enforced exile, heading into the world to seek an answer.
It was during this search the Rufus came upon the titan and the newly formed city it contained. Drawn by the wealth of knowledge they possessed, Rufus offered to join the Lore Keepers as an adventurer.
