PAC Meeting Updates and Upcoming AGM
Thank you everyone who attended our March General PAC meeting.
Our Annual General Meeting is April 29, 2021 at 6:00-7:30pm on Zoom. At the AGM a new Executive team will be voted in. All parents and guardians of UHE students are members of the PAC and are encouraged to become a part of the Executive. It is a great way to support UHE and bring your unique perspective to the table.
If interested, here are the positions available.
-District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) Representative
Nominees will be invited to make a short informal statement at the meeting in support of their nomination. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you may nominate yourself prior to the meeting by emailing our Nominations Committee at firstname.lastname@example.org, and you may include a short written statement in support of your nomination that will be read aloud at the meeting on your behalf. All parents present at the AGM have the opportunity to vote to elect a new executive.
The UHE PAC executive requires a Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and District Parent Advisory Council (DPAC) Representative at minimum. Role descriptions can be found in the Constitution and Bylaws document available on uhepac.ca (starting on page 7). Please reach out to email@example.com with any questions.
The AGM agenda and minutes from our March PAC meeting can be found below.
If you plan to attend, we kindly ask for you to email firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP and receive the Zoom link.
We hope to see many of you there!
We Love Our Library Fundraiser
Our "we love our library" fundraiser was a huge success, thanks to all of you! So far, we’ve raised nearly $2,000. That is amazing. You are amazing!
Our goal is to enhance and diversify our school library with more books by BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) authors and you have made a huge contribution to this! THANK YOU.
THERE IS STILL TIME TO DONATE
1) Donate directly via school cash online system. Sign in, click make a donation button, and select University Highlands Elementary School from the drop-down list.
When making donations over $20 directly to the school, you qualify for a Canada Revenue Agency charitable donation income tax credit! The basic credit is 20.06%, which means a $20 donation will only cost $16! For most British Columbians, additional charitable donations made above $200 in a year receive a 43.7% tax credit, meaning that you get almost half of it back! So a donation of $100 would only cost $56.
Nesters Gift Card Fundraiser
Purchase Nesters Market gift cards in $25, $50, and $100 denominations on our hot lunch website. Why: 10% of sales will be donated back to our PAC as a fundraiser, this is huge! If you’re a regular customer at Nesters Market, this is a great way to support UHE and Nesters all while getting the groceries you need. How: Head on over to uhe.hotlunches.net to order your gift cards.
In December 2020, $250 was donated to the UHE PAC by Gonz Arratia, our local realtor. Thank you for your ongoing support Gonz!
In December 2020, $220 from COBS Bread ongoing Doughraiser!
October-December 2020, $510 was raised through your Nester’s Gift Card Fundraiser purchases
October-December $1780 has been raised through your weekly hot lunch orders!
Hot lunch continues to be our biggest fundraiser. To order for your child, login or create an account at uhe.hotlunches.net.
The University Highlands Elementary Parent Advisory Council is the representative group for parents/guardians of children who attend UHE. The main purpose of the PAC is to promote the education and welfare of children in the school, to encourage parent involvement and to assist parents in obtaining information, and to provide advice to the school board, principal, and staff on any matter relating to the school.
The PAC day-to-day operations are coordinated through an Executive, who are elected annually at the Annual General Meeting.
PAC meetings are open to all parents and guardians of children attending University Highlands Elementary. Please come out to our meetings and consider joining the Executive or volunteering for PAC activities.
We acknowledge the financial support of the Province of British Columbia.
