About Us

Beginning as the Uniform International Sunday School Lessons Committee in 1872, the Committee on the Uniform Series (CUS) continues its commitment to connect and educate Christians around a common set of Bible lessons designed to cover the whole of Scripture in each six-year cycle.  The Committee's collaborative reaches across the whole Church, while respecting the uniqueness and integrity of each member communion. Nowhere is there a broader theological coalition working in common Christian cause to elevate and exegete Scripture for a lasting personal and corporate impact on God's family.

As we approach our sesquicentennial celebration, the focus of our group remains the same: to provide resources that invite participants of all ages to know the Bible, understand the Bible in light of their experiences and relationships, and increase their awareness of God’s self-disclosure, especially God’s redeeming love as revealed in Jesus Christ, that they may respond in faith and love.

Today, The Committee on the Uniform Series is housed within the National Council of Churches and meets annually for a one-week work session, followed by interim assignments.
