Q: Do I have to register my dog ahead of time for him to compete?
A: No, you can sign your dog up for events the day of if there is still space in that event. But, signing your dog up for an event ahead of time on this website will guarantee your dog a spot!
Q: Do I have to have a dog to come to the Dog Olympics?
A: Absolutely not! There will be plenty to see and do without a dog.
Q: My dog gets stressed out or aggressive around other dogs. Should I bring him?
A: Unfortunately the Dog Olympics is not the ideal environment for dogs that are dog-aggressive or overly shy/fearful. There will be many dogs present and may be tight spaces in some areas. If you don't think your dog will be comfortable in those situations, you should consider leaving him/her at home.
Q: What if it rains/snows/hails/is a typical Minnesota day?
A: The Dog Olympics will go on rain or shine. The event is indoors so don't let bad weather keep you away! In the case of extreme weather leading to cancellation of the event, we will share the news on our website and Facebook page. Our priority is the safety of you and your dog.
Q: What qualifies my dog to participate?
A: You must sign a waiver and all participating dogs must be up to date on rabies vaccinations. We require that you bring your veterinarian contact information OR certificate of rabies vaccination if available. Dogs of any shape, size and talent can participate!
Q: How do I find out about having a booth for a community group?
A: Feel free to contact umndogolympics@gmail.com for information about having a booth at the Dog Olympics!
Q: I'm from a catering company and I wanted to know who to contact about providing human food for the event.
A: We really appreciate you contacting us! Unfortunately, we cannot hire any catering companies due to regulations of the AgStar Arena. We will have food trucks provided by the arena at the event.
Q: Are there places for the dogs to do their business?
A: We are asking that human companions use the poop scoops we will set out to pick up their dog poo's and put it in the wheelbarrows. They will be located at the 4 corners of the arena outside. Please DO NOT use bags to clean up dog poo. There will be areas outside of the arena where dogs can do their business, but the inside is cement so better that we don't have accidents in the building if we can prevent it. But of course, dogs will be dogs so we will clean up as best we can with your help if accidents happen inside!
