UMPD K-9 Unit
The Canine Unit was created in June 2003. Currently, there are three officers with canine partners. The unit assists officers and the University community in public relations and crime prevention. Canine officers and handlers are certified in bomb detection and patrol assistance. The department's canine unit is also involved in educating the community by conducting demonstrations for the campus, surrounding communities, and outside organizations.
