Students with a strong background in Physics and an interest in ultrafast and terahertz spectroscopy of quantum and condensed matter materials are encouraged to apply to the Ultrafast Terahertz Spectroscopy (UFTS) group at IISER Kolkata for PhD and Integrated PhD research. Students typically join the group through the regular IISER Kolkata / Department of Physical Sciences PhD admissions process, including institutional PhD admissions based on national eligibility tests such as GATE, CSIR-UGC NET (Lectureship/JRF), and JEST. From time to time, the group also hosts CSIR-funded, INSPIRE-funded PhD students, depending on institute rules and available opportunities. Prospective applicants are welcome to contact Prof. N. Kamaraju with a brief description of their academic background, research interests, and relevant coursework or project experience.
BS-MS students at IISER Kolkata who are interested in carrying out a fifth-year BS-MS project in the group are encouraged to contact Prof. N. Kamaraju well in advance. Students interested in ultrafast spectroscopy, terahertz spectroscopy, condensed matter physics, quantum materials, and related areas are welcome to discuss possible project topics.
Students from institutions outside IISER Kolkata who are interested in summer research internships should apply through the IISER Kolkata Summer Research Programme. Please check the official summer programme website for current announcements, eligibility, and application deadlines.
Postdoctoral opportunities in the group are typically announced through IISER Kolkata / Department of Physical Sciences advertisements and special calls. Interested candidates are encouraged to monitor the relevant IISER Kolkata application portals and to contact Prof. N. Kamaraju if their research interests align with the group’s activities.
