You need to differentiate between Sugars.

Further: Sweetness is a trained perception, you can also be happy with less - after containing a certain amount everything will be treated as "good Food" this is very dangerous.
You will only need 2 Knives a big and a small one. Learn to sharpen them on a stone, mainly grind from the side of the hand you are using to cut (right-hander grind the right side of the blade)!
A short oyster knife could also be very usefull for opening or separating as it works like a wedge and by twisting you break open things. So a melon, coconut, frozen goods or ice could be easily brought apart. Also great for removing the skin of fruits or potatos, when placing your thumb onto side of the blade (over the lower side of the finger guard).
Adding a spoon of starch (potato) will make your soup thicker and everything (noodle, vegetables, royale, roasted bread or meat) will float. Mix it with a little cold water before adding it to your hot soup.
