I was born in Howrah, West Bengal on the Good Friday in the year 1977. I did my schooling from St.Aloysius High School, Howrah (ICSE 1992) and Don Bosco School, Liluah (ISCE 1994). Thereafter, I moved to a non-descript remote location by the foothills of the mighty Himalayan Range, to a place called Nirjuli, in Arunachal Pradesh, where I did my B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from NERIST(2000 passout).
Looking for a job, I moved to my hometown and joined Webel Electronic Communication Systems Ltd. and served for a while (Feb 2001 - Sep 2003) before coming to Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (October 2003), where I am currently serving the Dept. of CSE.
I am married to my college crush Chandralika and we have a dynamite of a daughter named Doibee (which means 'by divine', Banglacised form of Daivee in Sanskit). Some of our pictures are here. My picture here was shot sometime in 2010. I have cut down on pepper since. My hair is more salty now. And yes I keep adding and dropping weight.
As a teacher, I guess I do my job with my heart into it. Whether I am good at it..well my students will be able to say better. Some of them are still in touch, thanks to social media. My subjects though are not loveable to students, as I teach Formal Languages and Automata Theory, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Soft Computing and Computer Programming using C (First Year U.G.).
Completed my PhD in 2018, under the guidance of Prof. Samir Roy and Prof. Sankhayan Choudhury. My topic of research is " INTELLIGENT TEXTUAL LEARNER COMPUTER INTERACTION FOR E-LEARNING SYSTEMS".
My other areas of research interest include Rough Sets and Artificial Neural Networks based applications.
