As public schools in the region will be opening their doors to students in the next few weeks, homeschooling parents will need to mail their letters of intent to their local Board of Education.
"In Kentucky, under state law, all children must be enrolled in school between the ages of six (6) and 18. If a child is six (6) by August 1, he or she MUST be enrolled in primary school."
A sample letter of intent, if you're not sure what to include, can be found on page 7 of the Kentucky Home School Information packet. Link below.

Your letter will be addressed to the Board of Ed in your county of residence. Some people mail their letters with standard first class mail, but if you want a receipt to show that it was received, you can choose to send it "certified mail" or "signature required". This is the recommended option to prevent any issues with the Board. Keep this receipt on file along with a copy of your letter.
