High quality Salinity of Adriatic Sea
The total quantity of salt dissolved in one kilogram of sea water is called salinity, which is usually expressed in grams and as the per millage. The salinity of the Adriatic Sea is 38.30 per mill averagely, i.e. there is 38.30 g of salt dissolved in 1 kg of water. In the northern part, the salinity is somewhat lower than in the middle and southern part because of the i influence of the Po River.
The Adriatic Sea has a very marked annual change of the surface temperature. The average annual temperature is 11°C. During the winter, the sea is the coldest and the surface temperature is about 7°C; In the summer the surface of the sea reaches a very high temperature, of up to 22 to 25°C,
You need Fishing permit!
In Croatia, under the new fishing law, four types of fishing are defined: commercial, small, sports and recreational.
Undersea fishing belongs to the sports fishing category; which is allowing fishing during the day and without the use of oxygen tanks; that is, free diving (aka hold-breath diving) only. When buying a permit for sport fishing, it is necessary to buy a membership card in the Croatian Association for Sport Fishing at Sea, or membership in another country. Permits for sport fishing can be purchased in all sports clubs and associations on the Adriatic coast. Prices are: one day permit - 60 Kuna, three day permit 150 Kuna, seven day permit - 300 Kuna, thirty day permit-700 Kuna.
Fishing is allowed only with the following tools and equipment:
tended-line, with three hooks;
fly-line (kančenica); with tree hooks
trawl-line, with three hooks;
Spear gun;
It is allowed the use of up to two pieces of the equipment specified.
Permits for recreational sea fishing are on sale in the local offices of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management. Also, permits are sold by legal or physical persons authorised by, or having agreement with, the relevant Ministry to sell permits. It is also worth noting that for fishing for TUNA, SWORDFISH and GARFISH special permit needs to be issued, and it is necessary to report the catch to the Ministry. Daily catch allowance is ONE (1) specimen of Tuna, Swordfish and Garfish.
Permit can be obtained in the regional offices of the Ministry; in Rijeka, Senj, Pula, Dubrovnik, Split, Sibenik, Zadar and Ploce.
Maximum daily amount of the fish caught is 5 kg.
Permit (for Croatian or foreign nationals) is issued to the period of one day, three days, seven days or thirty days. Foreign citizens with residence in Croatia can get a permit for a whole year. Prices of permits are; 60 Kuna - 1 day; 150 Kuna - 3 days, 300 Kuna - 7 days or 600 Kuna - 30 days. Prices for the permits for the current year are; 100 Kuna for persons to the age of 18 or older than 60. For persons between the ages of 19 to 59, the price is 500 Kuna.
Permit must have the following printed on it: emblem of the Republic of Croatia in color, name of the Ministry, the name of the permit, and the current year and expiry date, the serial number and price
