In corporate research, I was responsible and project manager for the development of next generation breaker prototypes for future grids in an interdisciplinary group of mechanical and electrical engineers. This includes statistical optimization of robust designs in simulation and prototyping, sophisticated mechanical modeling with clearance, impact and friction models, as well as the coupling and co-simulation of mechanical, electro-magnetical and hydrodynamical phenomena. Thereby, I am collaborating with respective business units, corporate research centers and strategic partners in the world. In addition, I am sharing method development at selected conferences.
Institute of Applied Mechanics, TU München
At the Institute of Applied Mechanics, I took the responsibility for the numerical simulation. I won several grants, I am a mentor for PhD students, and I am working with collaborators on research projects and publications. I was lecturer for Advanced Engineering Dynamics and Multibody Dynamics, supervisor for various students, 'Multiplikator' for ProLehre and organiser of 'Fit in die Lehre'. The habilitation thesis is about Consistent Time-Integration Schemes for Flexible Multibody Systems with Friction and Impacts (MBSim).

At the Institute of Applied Mechanics, I have finished a PhD developing a large transient and spatial multibody dynamics model for the analysis of pushbelt continuously variable transmissions together with Bosch Transmission Technology B.V. Thereby, frictional effects and impacts are consistently represented. Presenting the work on conferences and within publications increased my interest in nonsmooth mechanics, i.e., mechanics including impacts and stick-slip phenomena, and motivated me to start a post-doctoral research at Inria. In addition, I was leading the exercise course in machine dynamics and I was supervising various students in topics from applied mechanics.

I have studied applied mathematics with a focus on numerical methods, in particular, advanced finite element schemes, and optimization. This includes practical implementations in various programming languages and abstract functional analytical background. I have found application areas in mechanical engineering and computer science, mainly in applied mechanics, fluid dynamics, robotics, control and artificial intelligence. The diploma thesis deals with mortar methods for the coupling of non-conformingly meshed finite element domains.
