  • 21-22 (Sa-Su) World Scout Jamboree on the Internet (click here) Thousands of Scouts from all over the world communicate over the Internet using web browsers, e-mail, chat programs, microphones, scanners and digital cameras. Also there is a Jamboree-on-the-Air on Sat. October 21st from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Blue Mountain Middle School by the Peekskill Amateur Radio Association.

November 2000

  • 2 (Thursday) Parent Meeting 7:30 p.m. at George Washington Elem. School. All parents are asked to attend.
  • 4-5 (Sa-Su)
  • .Trek-O-Ree 2000, the Manitoga District Boy Scout Fall Event. Boys must carry a Troop Outing Permission Slip with them. Map. Checkpoints. Handout. Bring a bag lunch and drink for Saturday. We will feed you Saturday night dinner and Sunday breakfast. Wear good hiking boots or hiking shoes. You do not have to wear your uniform, but bring it. Bring your handbooks. For non-troop-related information contact Don Walsh 631-2272 or Fred Glock 773-1135. Meet Sat. 7:15 a.m. at George Washington Elem. School, then leave at 7:30 to sign in at Tarrytown's Glenville Park off Benedict Ave. on Skeggs Rd. near the Westchester Marriott (checkpoint 1 near the bottom of the Map). Wait.   • Fall clean up and shrub relocation starts at 9:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 3830 Gomer St., Yorktown. Bring a shovel and gloves. Great way to earn service hours.

  • 14 (Tuesday) No Hawk Patrol meeting.
  • 16 (Thursday) Deposit due for Troop Ski Trip to Shawnee Mtn. Feb. 9-11. $50 per person.
  • 19 (Sunday)
  • Bowl-O-Ree (click here) for the Troop 11:45 a.m. at Cortlandt Lanes, 2192 Crompond Road., Cortlandt Manor. Beforehand coordinate with Margaret L. Check in with her when you arrive. Wear an official uniform and bring completed pledge form and pledged money as checks payable to Westchester-Putnam Council. Scouts will bowl two games. Each Scout who donates $30 or more will bowl for free and receive a Bowl-O-Ree patch. The full Council Bowl-O-Ree covers both Sat. and Sun. at Jefferson Valley, Cortlandt Lanes, etc. For information and reservations see the web site or call the Bowl-O-Ree Hotline at 914-921-6251.

This non-Boy Scout event can meet First Class requirement #2 for completing an orienteering course. Contact Robert B. for details on map instruction and hike sign-off.

December 2000

  • 2 (Saturday). Hudson Valley Orienteering (Click here). Navigate through the woods. Levels: Beginners to Advanced. Instruction at 10:30 a.m. Starts at 11:00 a.m. at FDR State Park, Yorktown. This non-Boy Scout event can meet First Class requirement #2 for completing an orienteering course. Contact Robert B. for details on map instruction and hike sign-off.
  • 7 (Thursday) Parent Meeting 7:30 p.m. at George Washington Elem. School. All parents are asked to attend. Also Board of review for anyone needing one. During the Troop meeting Scouts will work on Citizenship in the Community, a merit badge required for Eagle. Subsequent meetings will cover more merit badges. Needed: a final head-count for the Holiday Party. $50 deposits for Feb. Shawnee Mt. ski trip needed as soon as possible.
  • 14 (Thursday) No Holiday Party, because of school closure, postponed to Dec. 21.
  • 16 (Saturday) Scout Ski Day at Butternut (click here). Follow link or call Jackson P. for information.

  • Holiday Party 7:00 p.m. at George Washington Elem. School. Bring a 2-liter soda bottle and a dessert. Court of Honor at troop meeting. Please pay $40.00 (beyond the initial $50 deposit), for each person going to the Feb. Shawnee ski trip, to the treasurer as soon as possible.
