Summer
Summer is a time to relax and spend time with family, and that is just what we did. We took a camping trip to Kerr Lake and went canoeing. Several members traveled to the Woodlands Trail Day Camp and went to a Mudcats Baseball game. A few of our meetings were spent just with families, hot dogs, ice cream and games. One of our final events of the summer was spent on the Roanoke Canal Trail to install blue bird boxes as part of the American Heritage Girls National Day of Service. Let's not forget that our building renovations began at the Strickland Center location with the entire interior being demolished to prepare for a new floor plan. It has been an exciting time for our group!
Winter/Spring
During the initial months, our group kept busy. We had a visit from Sylvan Heights and later traveled there to put up duck boxes that were made by the group. We stopped by Josey Lumber Company to thank them for the donation of wood for those duck boxes. We took a trip to Vulcan Materials Company in Skippers, VA after learning about rocks and minerals. We also held a fundraiser in Weldon.
