How to Upgrade the Firmware on the TP Link WiFi Router?

Notice:

1 )Some versions have multiple hardware variations. Please check the hardware version of your device. It may only update firmware to exactly the identical hardware version. Incorrect firmware upgrading may harm your device and steer clear of the guarantee.

2) Do NOT upgrade the firmware through wireless connection unless the TP-Link apparatus only has wireless connection;

Step 1

Download the latest firmware version for your device, then use unzip tools like WinZIP or WinRAR to extract the firmware file to a folder.

The 6 digits from the firmware usually means the date.

Step 2

Login to the TP Link Wifi Router web management page.

Step 3

It is suggested to back up your current Settings before the upgrade, since firmware upgrade will clear all of the settings on your router. Just click Advances--System Tools-Backup & Restore, save the current settings to a location.

Step 4

Click on System Tools-Firmware Upgrade; you could click Check for upgrade to discover whether you've got the new firmware or maybe not. Or you may click on Browse to find the extracted firmware.

Step 5

Click the Update button. The device will reboot after the upgrading was completed. Please wait for 3 minutes.

Click Position , assess whether the router firmware has been updated

Following the factory defaults, please reconfigure the router from scratch or restore the settings in the saved back up file.

Note:

Please pay attention to this Notes of this firmware you have downloaded. Some firmware cannot use the backup file of the old firmware. If so, please reconfigure the router manually, instead of using the back up file from the previous firmware.
