Association Croquet (AC) is the oldest form of croquet that is currently played. Besides having good striking skills, AC involves a lot of strategy and forward thinking. Golf Croquet (GC) players can be initially quite confused about AC as it is a very different game, with its own vernacular and there seems to be much sitting down. 

Ricochet croquet (RC) was invented to help GC players transition to AC, however RC has become a popular game in its own right.
