Nicolás Guillén in Bristol University
Toni's lifelong interest in Cuba was intensified by his first visit to the island in 1977, which led to the publication of Cuba Hoy. Many other visits were to follow over the years and he made many friends there.
He was particularly close to the poet Nicolás Guillén whose visit to Bristol University he organized in 1974.
Other Cuban writer friends who visited Bristol thanks to Toni's efforts included Miguel Barnet, Eliseo Diego and Nancy Morejón.
