Tamara McGavock

Welcome! I am an Associate Professor in the Economics Department at Grinnell College and a member of Grinnell's Global Development Studies and Education Studies concentrations. 

For the 2024-25 academic year, I am a Visiting Scholar at the University of Chicago (Becker Friedman Institute and Heckman's Center for the Economics of Human Development) and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

I completed my Ph.D. in 2016 in the economics department at Cornell University, where Francine Blau led my graduate committee. My fields of research are development and labor economics--see more on my Research page.
