Weddings were always a big family event and later as you can imagine, the funerals were too.
Grandma C. S. Roys met with her sister Lydie Fansler regularily.
Grandpa R. O. Roys had all of his family over to his house once when I was young. Uncle Claire, Aunt Mable, Aunt Gladys and "Uncle" Russell Rohr from Chicago (his best friend) attended.
Dick and Mary would travel back home to Indiana whenever they could and Mary and Linda still visit South Bend and Michigan every Summer. We would visit them in Louisiana every three years during my Dad's vacation. Grandma got to go down there once or twice before she passed away.
Virginia had a cottage on Diamond Lake, MI for entertaining family and later a wooded property in Granger, IN. upon which both her daughters also build homes.
Tom and Esther Van Dyke loved to host their family relation for a picnic in the summer or on New Years Eve. Later they entertained at Indian Lake.
John & Thelma Roys had a Diamond Lake, MI cottage to visit and John & Ann Roys did a lot of entertaining at their lake home near Grand Rapids, MI and at their two condos in Palm Harbor and St Pete Beach, FL.
Most of the family is spread out over the USA. The Dick Roys branch is in Shreveport, LA and Houston, TX and outside Detroit, MI. The Virginia Roys branch is in Michiana and Greater Atlanta. The Esther Roys-Van Dyke branch is on the Gulf Coast of Florida. The John Roys branch is in the Grand Rapid, MI area.
The Pratt side of the family was well known for their large family reunions. The Van Dykes always attended.
The Marilyn Greens are still in Rochester, IN, as well as much of Northern Indiana including Plymouth and Valparaiso. Her home was the usual place for the family to gather at. The Van Dyke family of Junior and Herald is still centered around Warsaw and Avery is in Mishawaka, IN.
Aunt Esther and I would love to have you visit us here in Venice, FL. Ya'll come down and see us soon!
