Entrepreneurship
Oren J. and Mary E. Roys founded Bistineau Tropical Fish in the 1960-70s in Doyline, LA. His son, Ken, assumed the business upon their retirement. Later, Ken used the BTF Articles of Incorporation to launch his management consulting firm.
John D. Roys founded his own insurance agency in Grand Rapids, MI. His son, David, also worked there.

Military Honors
John Braton Roys (3 yrs) and John Woolson Van Dyke (3 mos) enlisted in the Indiana Volunteer Infantry during 1861. Both survived the Civil War and were mustered out.
Roswell Orville Roys and Clemans Merrick Van Dyke registered for the 1917 Draft. Both received medical deferments and were not called to serve in World War I.
Oren J Van Dyke enlisted in the US Army in 1942 and became a pilot in the US Air Corps stationed in England during the bombing campaign of Germany. He later was assigned to the Strategic Air Command during the Cold War in the 1950's and 1960's. Clemans Merrick Van Dyke registered for the 1942 Draft. Clemans Junior Van Dyke enlisted in the US Army and became a Military Policemen serving in Holland and Thomas L. Van Dyke enlisted in the US Navy and received a medical discharge without being asked to serve.
John Delbert Roys enlisted in the US Army during the Korean War.
Avery Lee Van Dyke enlisted in the US Marine Corps in 1961 and served in Active Duty and the Reserves stateside during the Viet Nam War Era.
Academic Honors
John Brayton Roys, Jr. learned the draughtsman trade and was hired by the City of South Bend to work on the plans for the Sample Street Bridge. His name was on the plaque which hung at the West end of the bridge for years, until it was rebuilt and a new plaque was put into place.
John Delbert Roys was the first of his side of the family to enter college and graduate from Purdue University. He used it to become an actuarial in the insurance industry and later transferring to the sales department in Chicago, IL.
Thomas L. Van Dyke, Sr. entered the South Bend College Of Commerce to study Bookkeeping and used this to become a piece rate output checker for Bendix Corp.
Kenneth Richard Roys graduated from college with an engineering degree. He used it to enter the petroleum industry working on offshore drilling derricks near Libya.
David A. Roys entered optical school to become an optician working for Sears Optical for many years in Grand Rapids, MI.
Thomas L. Van Dyke, Jr. graduated from Indiana University with a BA in Speech Communication with a Business Emphasis and used it to enter the management training program of Osco Drug, Inc. in Chicago, IL.
Sue A DeWells attended computer school and used it to enter work for Kroger, Inc. in South Bend, IN.
Robert L. Green, Jr. enrolled in Purdue University and graduated from its School of Pharmacy to become a Registered Pharmacist in Plymouth, IN eventually owning his own prescription shop.
Jill Lauren Van Dyke enrolled in St Petersburg College and graduated with a BS in Education. She used this to enter the teaching profession and a transition into software design quality assurance for SCC Soft Computer based in Clearwater, FL.
Jeffrey Thomas Van Dyke enrolled in St Petersburg College and was accepted into the University of Florida School of Electrical Engineering. He used this to obtain a Systems Operator/Dispatcher position with Progress Energy of Florida based in St Petersburg, FL.
