The UPLB Genetics Society promotes excellence not only to its members but also to other students, especially those enrolled to the Introductory Genetics Course (BIO 30). The BIO 30 Tutorials is regularly conducted a week before the scheduled BIO 30 examinations. The BIO 30 Tutorials has been an established feat by GeneSoc being it one of the first tutorials hosted by an academic organization. The tutorial session is regularly facilitated by a GMBD faculty or a GeneSoc resident member. A reviewer (questionnaire) and snacks are given during the session. There are eight BIO 30 Tutorial sessions in a year. The second semester of AY 2014-15 marked the beginning of taking the tutorials in social media. Supplementary questions were posted in the official Facebook page of GeneSoc. During the same time, the Learning Resource Center (LRC) of UPLB was tapped as a partner for the event.
First BIO 30 Tutorials held at IBS Lecture Hall Main (August 5, 2010)
with Dr. Joel Mendoza (GMBD Faculty) as instructor. The tutorials
is regularly held at Rm. C-107 on a week prior to the BIO 30 Examination.
Started in 1986, the Genetics Week, which is a week-long event that presents recent advancements in the field of Genetics, is an annual event conducted every December of each year. Aside from presenting Genetic concepts, the event also showcases the history, membership and achievements of the organization in celebration of its founding anniversary. The events included in the Genetics week are the opening of the exhibit at the Institute of Biological Sciences Lobby (Wing C), a symposium, the IQlympics, orientation for interested applicants, Open Tambayan and Alumni Homecoming.
Following the academic calendar shift which was implemented in AY 2014-2015, the annual Genetics Week was moved to October (First Semester) from its traditional schedule.

The BIO 30 Week is another innovation added to the roster of GeneSoc activities in line with the Silver Anniversary Celebration in 2008. Initially, the BIO 30 Week covered the applications and contributions of the emerging fields of Genetics to human life. In 2016, the BIO 30 week theme was expanded towards presenting Genetics in popular culture and everyday life. The week-long celebration features a symposium and exhibit. Another highlight of this week-long celebration is the BIO 30 Inter-Laboratory Quiz Contest. The first BIO30 Week in 2008 was recognized the UNO Awards as Best Symposium (Bukas Kamalayan) and Best Exhibit (Bukas na Larawan) for the 2008-2009 academic year.
With the Genetics Week as the First Semester exhibit of the organization, the BIO30 Week was transferred to the Second Semester.

Held every January, the Genetics camp is annual activity for high school students and faculty members which aims to promote awareness and interest of students on the science of Genetics as well as present efficient teaching methods of Genetics for the teachers. This activity which was initiated in 2006, initially catered to the students of Calamba, Bay and Los Baños. Through the years, the coverage of the camp's participants grew to the Luzon-level.

The UPLB Genetics Society conducts two quiz contests in each academic year. For the first semester, students of the Introductory Genetics course (BIO 30) are challenged through the BIO 30 Inter-Laboratory Quiz Contest. Another quiz contest is scheduled for the second semester - the IQlympics. Unlike the inter-lab which is limited to the students of a particular course, the IQlympics is a general information - IQ quiz contes and it is open to the whole university. The quiz contests are featured during the BIO30 Week and Annual Genetics Week.
GeneSoc sponsored the First Luzon Intercollegiate Genetics Quiz Contest in 1998 and this was participated by twelve universities. This was followed by two more editions in 2000 and 2002. In connection with the 30th Anniversary of the organization and the 60th year of the elucidation of the DNA Double Helix, the Intercollegiate contest was revived into a national contest in 2013. This was participated by 10 universities all over the country - seven (7) from Luzon, two (2) from Visayas, (1) from Mindanao. (Read more about the NIGQC)
The UPLB Genetics Society is also known to have sponsored the first National Genetics Symposium on December 1990. This was held again in 1992 and 1994. The event became the forerunner of the Philippine Society for the Advancement of Genetics (PhilSAGen) - the organization of leading professionals related to the science of Genetics in the Philippines. In 1996, the PhilSAGen took over the sponsorship of the biennial event until 2014. In 2018, the organization and the National Genetics Symposium was revived after four years through the creation of the National Society for the Promotion of Genetics (ProGen).
The National Genetics Symposium is a biennial gathering of geneticists, breeders, teachers, researchers, and other professionals in related fields. It serves as a forum for the presentation of researches, sharing of knowledge, exchange of ideas, and discussion of issues. The sessions focus on the theme of the symposium, and on researches, technological advancements, genetics education, and genetics profession in the Philippines.
Aside from these academic activities, the organization has been participating to athletic events in the campus - a proof that The UPLB Genetics Society strives to mold the well-being of its members. The organization participates on the annual sporting event for organizations with in the College of Arts and Sciences.
In 2007, organizations with members belonging to other colleges were not allowed to join PalaCASan. GeneSoc is known to be open to non-CAS courses which has the Genetics course (BIO30) in their curriculum. This resulted to the formation of another sporting event, kasCASan which was participated by GeneSoc, Chemokinesis, ChemSoc, MicroSoc, ORSP, Prism, SPS and Symbiosis. The rest of the organizations of the College of Arts and Sciences were retained to the PalaCASan. After five yeas, GeneSoc was allowed to compete again in the PalaCASan.
In 2016, GeneSoc hosted the annual sports meet with the theme, "Bumabangon. Lumalaban. Manlalaro ng Bayan."
BIOlympics is an Institute-based sporting event that was launched in December 2000. The competing teams were composed of IBS Faculty members, students and IBS-based student organizations.
