Poetry Reading with Melanie Siebert and Emily Nilsen

Please join us for an afternoon poetry reading in the library with the Sointula Art Shed's October artists in residence Emily Nilsen and Melanie Siebert!

This reading will be at the Sointula library, Saturday October 7th, from 12:30 to 1:30pm. There will be refreshments available

Melanie Siebert's first poetry collection, Deepwater Vee (M&S), was a finalist for Canada's Governor General's Literary Award. Melanie completed and MFA at the University of Victoria where she received the Lieutenant Governor's Silver Medal for her master's thesis. She has worked as a wilderness guide on remote rivers in the Northewest Territories, Nunavut, and Alaska.

Emily Nilsen was born and raised in Vancouver. Her first book of poems, Otolith (Goose Lane Editions/icehouse) was published shortly after the chapbook Place, No Manual (Lake). She was a finalist for the BCB Poetry Prize in 2015 after having been longlisted for the prize on three separate occasions. Her work has also been longlisted for the UK National Poetry Prize. Nilsen holds an MFA from the University of British Columbia, Okanagan. She currently lives in Nelson, British Columbia.
