Betrothed
A King takes a Bride!
Betrothed
When one comes to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, in effect, they are betrothed as a bride to her future husband. He wants to care for us believers and meet our every need as a husband for his wife. We will be married to Jesus Christ and will join Him in a unique relationship as joint heirs of the coming Kingdom of God.
Paul wrote in 2Corinthians 11:2b For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
(Paul was reminding the Corinthian Christians that they belonged to Christ and warned them of the danger of allowing false teachers with another gospel to influence them ~ to win their hearts away from Jesus, the One who truly loves them)
Hosea 2:16-20 And it shall be, in that day, “Says the Lord, That you will call Me 'My Husband'---------(v19) I will betroth you to Me forever, Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and justice, in loving kindness and mercy; (v20) I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness, and you shall know the Lord.
know is the term of endearment, intimacy, neness between two mutually conscenting, committed, loving, persons within the bounds of marriage. Also; personal, absolute, and complete knowledge. between the knower and the knowee
Also (23c) Then I will say to those who were not My people, 'You are My people!' and they shall say ' You are my God!'
Betrothal was a binding commitment, the last step before the marriage and the consummation. The forever the Lord emphasized means that
the new marriage between Himself and Israel would be permanent; with the Lord as the loving devoted husband.
Also, we who were not originally His children, will be included in Gods plan to bring both Jew and Gentile together as ONE in His future Kingdom.
Romans 10:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Gentile, for the same Lord over all is rich to who call upon Him. (13) For whoever calls on the NAME of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 3:22b & 23 For there is NO difference.(23) for ALL have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.
Acts 10:35 ~He is Lord of ALL~
Luke 5:34-36 Jesus said to them, Can you make the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them? (v35) But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them; then they will fast in those days.
Fasting was done as an act of penitence and to dedicate one self to the LORD
Also betrothal was compared to the Presence of the Lord and to the Joyous time of a wedding !! .
Revelation 19:9 Describes the church in heaven and the marriage supper of the Lamb.
The traditional wedding of John's day would last for days of feasting and celebrating. All of the overcomers who will rule and reign with Christ, will enjoy this supper and their names will be written in the Lambs book of Life.
