Added Hairpin Racers page. Hairpin Racers is a two-player diceless racing game which combines aspects of Backgammon and No Dice (1987). Players’ racers zoom along a twisting racetrack while blocking, passing and bumping their opponent’s racers.

Added Harlequin page. Harlequin is a jump and flip abstract game that combines elements of King's Court , Reversi, and Scurry. The game uses a harlequin board and features long sequences of checker jumps.

Added FEN page. FEN is a two to three player, "majority" influence and control game played on polygonal tessellations or graphs and is easily played using paper and pencil. The game has no luck elements but feels like a push-your-luck game.

Added Uptick page. Uptick is a tactical, combinatorial dice game for two players played on a checkerboard with two sets of 12 six-sided dice. In the game, dice values are used to determine movement range, freeze opponent dice, and scoring. The winner is the player with the greater score when both players cannot place or move a die.

Added Lucky Sevens page. Lucky Sevens is a quick, fun, matching card game for one to four players. Players collect pairs of cards with ranks that are equal or add to 14, or single cards of rank 7 (Lucky Sevens). Sevens allow the movement of cards and can free up many blocked cards. The goal for solitaire games is to collect all cards from a single deck. In competitive games, the player, who collects the most cards from two decks, wins.

January 2021

Added Rapid Transit page. Rapid Transit is an abstract strategy game of unification for two players. In this game players swap pieces in adjacent networks to create larger and more efficient networks. Material equity remains constant throughout the game. The game ends when a player has connected all his or her pieces into a single network.

May 2021

Added Astralis page. Astralis is an abstract, area-control, strategy game of space exploration, expansion, and extraction for two players. Players race across the galaxy in an attempt to colonize planets and populate space. In this game, players must careful expand their holdings while trying to maintain their mobility and blocking their opponent.

Added Bagel page. Bagel is a quick, tense game with random setup for two players in which players try to create as many 3-in-a-rows as possible.  Each turn, players must decide whether to score points, set up scoring opportunities, or hinder their opponent. Although players will develop general strategies for optimizing their scores, the random set up of the board requires players to closely examine each game state before placing discs.

February 2021

Added Rummy² page. Rummy² is an unusual hybrid card collection and abstract game for one (solitaire) or two players that requires a balanced strategy. Each turn has offense and defensive aspects.  Not only do players have to wisely select which cards to collect to maximize their score but they also have to consider what they can do to minimize their opponent's scoring possibilities. The subtle use of card movement is the means to these ends.

November 2020

Added Dohyo page. Dohyo is abstract strategy game for two to four sumo players. Players take turns pivoting around their tokens and then pushing their opponent's tokens out of the dohyo arena. The first to push three opponent token off the board wins. A player also wins if their opponent can not move.

Added Hot Wire page. Hot Wire is an abstract tactical paper and pencil game for two players. Players take turns connecting wires to pins on a prototype circuit board. The player who forces his opponent to connect the last wire wins the game. Electrifying!

Updated Gauntlet to version 2. Version 2 recommends that a pair of games be played and changes the scoring for the runner player. Also, a 10 x 10 gameboard and no forced captures are recommended for tournament play.

Added Midgard page. Midgard is a two player abstract strategy game of dominance. Players take on the roles of Odin and his brothers in creating Midgard, the homeland of humanity from the remains of the vanquished ice giant Ymir. One player-god creates the seas and other the land masses.

Added Scurry page. Scurry is two-player abstract strategy game of connections and area domination with wild swings in material. The game is themed based on squirrels preparing for winter. Acorns fall from a tree and then squirrels scurry around in an effort to be the last to visit and cache every acorn on the ground. The end game is always tense as either player can win at any moment.

Added Hermit page. Hermit is a two-player, elegant, abstract strategy game about creating groups of like-colored stones and odd sizes only. The rules are very simple and the game play complex. The opening is straightforward as players spread out their stones. The end game can be quite challenging as players attempt to maintain their hermits (singletons).

Added Daredevil Rock page. Daredevil Rock is a card/board game about free climbing which blends luck and skill. Players climb up a cliff of cards and hope not to fall as they face the challenge of Daredevil Rock.

Added Springtime page. Springtime is a two-player abstract game in which players try to obtain majority control of the flowering regions of a modular, reconfigurable game board.

Added Trails page. Trails is a re-implementation of Trail Mix, an abstract connection game for two players. This game is based on the game Bridg-it but differs in that players are restricted to playing connecting tokens in one direction only. A player wins by completing a path that connects either pair of opposite sides of the board.
