Field Trips

Only paid up members of the ORMC can attend field trips. You may attend as an invited guest.

Field trips are generally held on the Sunday following the monthly meeting. During the winter months field trips maybe postponed and an alternative activity will be organised.

Information about the field trip

Notice of the field trip and trip leader can be found in the monthly club newsletter - The Fossil.

At the club meeting further information about the filed trip will be given such as, what will/could be found, meeting place and time, what to bring and what to wear and any rules that need to be followed.

You will be required to fill out the field trip attendance sheet on club night. You must do this for Health and Safety reasons and, if for any reason the field trip is cancelled, postponed or meeting time and place has changed.

For most field trips you will require

Sturdy footwear, safety glasses, warm clothing, water proof jacket, sunscreen, gloves, hat, drinking water, food, hand lens, small first aid kit

Equipment

The trip leader will let you know what equipment you will require on the field trip. You should have with you

Rock /heavy hammers, coal chisels, spade/ shovel, bucket/bag to carry specimens
