Benwick (Fate Unknown) - A cultist of Merrshaulk masquerading as priest of Pelor. He had been at the keep for about a month prior to the party's arrival, and was often seen with Gorn in the Stumbling Giant Tavern, deep in conversation. He and Gorn hired the party to loot the tomb of Greysen Ramthane, hidden under the Captain's Tower. Upon their return he betrayed the party, allowing Gorn attack the party with their henchmen, who were secretly working for him. Once Gorn was killed he revealed that he was something more than a simple priest by drawing a dagger and attacking. Unwilling to commit to combat, possibly fearing capture, he made his escape by binding Audrey with a spell, then stealing a horse and killing a gate guard as he fled the keep. It was learned that he was in league with the Scarlet Witch. His current whereabouts are unknown.
Black Thom the Halfling Carter (Fate Unknown) - A scarred halfling of Geoffi extraction, resident of Restwell Keep. He is missing the lower half of his left forearm. Referred to the party by Corporal Fallek as someone with experience as an adventurer in the Chaos Scar. In 577 he and his adventuring party were wiped out by what he describes as a werewolf near the Pillar of Eyes. He survived by playing dead but lost part of his arm. He turned out to be a reliable source of information for the party by telling the party that he once heard rumors of duergar being present in the abandoned foundry in the Chaos Scar. He is a jolly fellow, always quick to share a tale from his adventuring days in his thick Geoffi accent, and share a pitcher of ale at the Stumbling Giant. Since his "accident" he works as a carter, regularly carrying loads between Restwell and Bova and sometimes even to Istivin. It is presumed he is still a resident of Restwell, under it's new lord, Aksul Merrowman.
Boontah the Goblin Chieftain (Deceased) - Leader of a small band of goblin bandits, killed by the party in some ruins roughly two miles northeast of Restwell Keep. He had a penchant for decorating the spikes on his helmet with the eyes of his victims. Most troubling, he had what appeared to be the eye of some type of beholder magically grafted into his left eye socket that was capable of shooting a ray of fire. No one the party asked was aware of any beholders living in the Chaos Scar, although Fallek referred to a location known as the Pillar of Eyes and recommended they talk to Black Thom, the one-armed halfling carter. His former follower, Splugg was unable to shed any light on the origin of Boontah's unusual eye, having only taken up with Boontah not long before meeting the party.
Chendera, Priestess of Avandra (Fate Unknown) - The half-elven heritage of this young woman is plain to see by her features. She and her two acolytes keep a chapel dedicated to Avandra, the demigoddess of chance, luck and skill. This goddess is known as Rudd in Gran March, Bissel, and points east. Despite the chapel being dedicated to Avandra it contains small shrines to many other gods who are worshiped by the people of Restwell, and Chendera is well versed in the rituals of many traditions to serve her diverse flock. She does not have a high opinion of Lord Drysdale, who she thinks is overly rigid and too rules-bound. Rumor says she has a lover, who is a wandering priest of Trithereon, the god of freedom and self-defense, and is an infrequent visitor to the Keep. She is on good terms with the party and has performed a handful of rituals for them, including curing Ash and Hardek of grievous wounds they obrtained in the tomb of Greysen Ramthane. It is presumed she is still a resident of Restwell, under it's new lord, Aksul Merrowman.
Citirian, the Mage of Saruun (Fate Unknown) - Leader of the small Mages of Saruun guildhall in Restwell Keep. He is robed from head to toe in black and wears a silver mask over his face. He is sophisticated and cool in manner. He hired the party to recover the Staff of Earthen Might from the ruins of Voran Earthmane's tower. When they were ambushed he began to suspect that he has a competitor who wants the staff, though he has no idea who it may be. He hired the party to find out who it was and was pleased to learn about the Scarlet Witch although he had no idea who she is. He wanted the party to keep investigating but their employment by him has been superseded by Lord Drysdale taking them on as retainers. Still, he remains a source of knowledge and resources, being the only arcanist in the Keep besides his apprentices and Ash. It is presumed he is still a resident of Restwell, under it's new lord, Aksul Merrowman.
Elm (Deceased) - The servant boy of Citirian. Found murdered in the stables of the Keep just before the party arrived back from the Tower of Voran Earthmane. At first Splugg was blamed for the crime, since his escape coincided with the killing, but the party was able to prove his innocence. It is believed that he was killed because he knew the identity of whoever was feeding information to the Scarlet Witch. According to the captive Silver Ben Apple, this was Benwick, who had his other hired man, Bronze Ben murder the boy.
Fallek, Corporal of the Outer Bailey Guard (Deceased?)- The corporal of the guard of Restwell Keep. Met by the players when they sought entrance to the keep. He appears to be in his 40s, with and beard and mustache, long brown hair which is going gray, and a long scar running across his right cheek. He is gruff and gives the appearance of not wanting to be bothered with his duties, except when there appears to be a serious threat to the keep. He warmed up to the party, especially when sharing a pitcher of Mother Aran's ale at the Stumbling Giant tavern, and turned out to be a good source of information and their closest contact in the keep in their early days. He has become closer to the party since they moved into Oakshield Tower, being tasked with commanding the small garrison that serves there under the command of Gwenn. As of Harvester of 581 he married the Widow Phaella, proprietress of the King's Rest inn in Cressock, and she moved into Oakshield, where she serves as cook. He accompanied Lord Drysdale to the Brewfest Council of Peers of 581 and was commanding guardsmen at Baron Bova's townhouse when the Istivin City Watch, acting under command of Lord Protector Garinac, came to arrest everyone there. A battle ensued. His fate is unknown, though he is presumed to be deceased.
Garrick Blackoak (Fate Unknown) - The sergeant in charge of Lord Drysdale's personal guard, which mans the inner bailey of Restwell Keep. A tough, battle-scarred veteran, he is known to be intensely loyal to Lord Drysdale. He is gruff, no-nonsense and easily angered. He and his men were banned from going to the Traveler's Inn or Stumbling Giant after several brawls broke about between them and keep residents who spoke badly about Drysdale. He hired the party on behalf of Lord Drysdale to track down the goblin raiders who attacked the village of Burwych. He was made a squire and put in command of the village of Burwych, but with Aksul Merrowman having taken over Restwell, but given that he was very loyal to Lord Drysdale it can be assumed that he was either killed or fled.
Gorn Hammerfell (Deceased) - Former captain of the Restwell Keep guard. He was given the position after being hired by Lord Drysdale to shore up the defenses of the keep, immediately after he took over. Viewed as something of an outsider by the other officers of the guard, though apparently not by Drysdale. Keeps company at the Stumbling Giant tavern with the priest benwick. Sunder suspects that he may be the "short fat man" that Splugg saw go through a secret door in the hall outside his cell when he was imprisoned in the Guard Captain's Tower at the Keep. In dealing with the party he is unfriendly and seems suspicious of them. Along with Benwick he hired the party to loot the tomb of Greysen Ramthane though he flew into a rage and attacked them when they returned without Ramthane's real magic axe. Along with the party, he had been fooled by Benwick, who planned to betray him and keep all the treasure from the tomb. This remained unknown to him though, and he was killed by the party in the resulting melee.
Graybairn Brothers (Lambert - Fate Unknown, Moseley and Finneus - Deceased) - A trio of halfling brigands who made up the core of the bandit gang known as the Brothers Gray. The youngest, Finneus was killed by Audrey when she knocked him off a beam and down the shaft at the abandoned mine-works. Lambert, the middle brother was captured and gave up information about his employer in return for his life. He swore an oath on the halfling goddess Yondalla to not seek revenge on the party and has not been seen since. Moseley, the oldest brother, and leader, was down in the mineshaft with their employer, the Scarlet Witch, and her duergar guards. He was captured by the party and taken back to Restwell Keep where he was hung while the party was looting the tomb of Greysen Ramthane. Lambert, was seen again by the party, in the employ of Baron Pelman Drudd. It was Lambert who met them at the mouth of the sewer above the Effluvium of Istivin, just before they set out to rescue the Marchioness.
Kendon Longstrider (Fate Unknown) - The bailiff of Restwell Keep, he is in charge of the guard for the outer bailey of the keep. A large man with short gray hair and a long mustache. He appears to be in his late 50s or early 60s, though he is still powerful and active. He was promoted to his position from among the ranks of the mercenary band that was charged with guarding the keep when Lord Drysdale conquered it and drove out the Six Blades of Fortune. It was he who tasked the party when they were newly arrived at the Keep with tracking down the goblin bandits of Boontah's band. His fate is unknown, although given his mercenary nature, it is possible he is now in the employ of Restwell's new lord, Aksul Merrowman.
Lord Peridin Drysdale (Deceased) - A paladin of Erathis and ruler of Restwell Keep. It is his desire to see Restwell secured as his fief and the King's Wall rebuilt. He has ambitions to ultimately purge the evil from the Chaos Scar. The party finally met him after the looting of Ramthane's tomb and the unmasking of Benwick as an agent of evil. At that time he pardoned the party and swore them to his service, tasking them with hunting down Benwick and the Scarlet Witch, and ending their plotting. His brother is the liege lord of Gwenn's father in northeastern Sterich. During the first audience with the party he seemed to recognize Gwenn, though they have never met before, and he had left his brother's fief before she was born. His current focus is to confirm a patent on his rule of Restwell, something that is disputed by his neighbor, Baron Rees Merrowman, who would like to have Restwell's lands become his. Drysdale's patent to Restwell was confirmed at the meeting of the Council of Peers in Istivin during Growfest of 581. The matter was settled by means of a judicial melee fought between his and baron Merrowman's champions. He continues to work with his allies, Barons Kline and Bova, to counter the influence of Baron Merrowman and his allies. During the coup of Brewfest 581 he commanded the Owlbears to fight their way out of Baron Bova's townhouse, seeing his family and that of Baron Bova to safety and then attempt to rescue the Marchioness. The party later learned that he was killed in the assault on Baron Bova's townhouse. His head was displayed on a spike over the Javan Gate of Istivin. He is survived by his wife, Lady Lilain, and his son, Murlann.
Ellesan, Priest of Erathis (Fate Unknown) - A half-elven priest of Erathis and chaplain to Lord Drysdale and his guardsmen. He is a handsome man of indeterminate age with blond hair and blue eyes, though he dresses simply and modestly and keeps his hair cropped short at his collar. He came with Lord Drysdale from the Drysdale family's lands in northeastern Sterich. Rumors say that he is the bastard of a dalliance between an elf lord of the Oyt Wood and a human peasant girl. Whatever the truth of these rumors, he does seem to have a dislike of elves and elven things. His chief rival in Restwell is Chendera, the priestess of Avandra. He was left in charge of Restwell during the events of the coup of Brewfest 581. Given his loyalty to Lord Drysdale it is presumed he is either killed or fled.
Millen Silvereye (Fate Unknown) - A tiefling who runs a trading post at the Crossroads, where he deals and trades with the inhabitants of the Chaos Scar. Rumor says it was during a run-in with a mind-flayer that his left eye was turned to silver, but the disfigurement supposedly also gifted him with a weird prescience, allowing that eye to see into the future. Despite his monstrous appearance he speaks eloquently in a cultured Keoish accent. He has a reputation as a trader in information as well as material goods. The party first encountered his when Fallek told them he might know the whereabouts of the Brothers Gray. He turned out to be a ready source of information, but only for those willing to play his price -- the recovery of a gemstone sacred to a cult of Orcus, Demon Prince of the Undead, which resided in an abandoned temple. Upon delivery of the gem he gave them the location of the mine that the Brothers Gray were hiding out in. He was last seen by the party when they were searching for the whereabouts of the old foundry near the Crossroads, but he was less than cooperative and strangely, was unwilling to give out information for pay. The party had no reason to have contact with him after this. It is presumed he still runs his trading post at the Crossroads.
Nerrin Silverhand (Fate Unknown) - The owner and proprietor of the Traveler's Inn, which is the only inn at the keep. He is a slimy, whining, greedy, angry skinflint of a man with very few redeeming qualities. The beds of his inn are old, broken down, and shoddy, while the blankets are full of holes and flea-ridden. He has a bad reputation for allowing the fires in the inn to die down before midnight, leaving guests to resort to their own gear to remain warm. He guards the stock of firewood like a snarling dragon, but will gladly add a log to the fire if paid an inflated price for the wood. The drink and food in his establishment are even worse and only the most down-on-his-luck traveler will dine or drink there instead of at the Stumbling Giant tavern. Rumor says he was once a successful businessman in Istivin, but his investments went bad and he was ruined. He has run his inn since the days when the Six Blades of Fortune ruled the Keep and resents Lord Drysdale for "ruining his trade" though he probably makes more coin that he ever did under the Blades. It is presumed he is still a resident of Restwell, under it's new lord, Aksul Merrowman.
Philotomy Jurament (Fate Unknown) - A tall, muscular man with tangled black hair and a mustache. Judging from his appearance one might suspect he has some Baklunish blood. He is originally from Bissel where he was a member of the famed Border Companies of that nation, though he has also spent a considerable amount of time traveling the Flanaess as a mercenary. Rumors say he has fought on both sides of the conflict between the Great Kingdom and Iron League, and spent several years in the Bandit Kingdoms. He has been with Rees Merrowman since 576 when he joined his retinue for the campaign against the Frost Giants of Crytalmist Mountains. He rose quickly in rank, despite his heritage, and was knighted by Merrowman though he still looks like the kind of man who would have ridden with the notorious Baron Oltagg of Wormhall in the Bandit Kingdoms (As rumors say he did at one point). He was one of Baron Merrowman's champions in the judicial melee of Growfest 581 in Istivin.
Quint Spiregleam (Fate Unknown) - A gnome jewel merchant who is the owner of the rooms over Wat the Tailor's shop that were rented by the party as their living quarters when they first came to Restwell Keep. The party never met him as he is frequently out of town on business. It is presumed he is still a resident of Restwell, under it's new lord, Aksul Merrowman.
Scarlet Witch (Deceased) - This wizardess was the main adversary early on in the career of the party, and a threat to Restwell Keep, though what her exact purposes are is still unknown She is a pale-skinned woman with red hair and pale blue eyes, obviously of Suel blood, who dresses completely in red. She was first encountered by the party when she was down in the mines with Moseley Graybairn and a pair of duergar guards, searching for a "chaos shard." She used a linked portal ritual to escape from them then. From Silver ben Apple the party learned that the Scarlet Witch is working with Benwick, and for the benefit of someone known as the Vermillion Queen. When the party investigated the Foundry they again encountered the Witch and she again used a linked portal to escape. Before the portal closed Audrey could see that it led to a room that looked like a wizard's work-room, and that outside the window could be seen the banner of the neighboring barony of Merrowman. Her employ by Merrowman was confirmed during the coup of Brewfest 581, when she was found to be in command of the guards imprisoning the Marchioness in the Black Tower of Krelont Keep. She was killed during the rescue. A book belonging to Lord Drysdale was found on her body, which revealed that Gwenn is related to the rulers of Sterich and Bissel through her mother.
Silver Ben Apple (Fate Unknown) - A mercenary among the outer bailey guard of Restwell Keep. Along with another mercenary, Bronze Ben, he secretly served the false priest Benwick. Silver Ben was captured by the party after he and Bronze Ben attacking them when they returned from looting Greysen Ramthane's tomb. He admitted to having worked for Benwick for the last month, and that it was Bronze Ben that murdered Elm. He was last seen as a captive of Lord Drysdale's guard in the inner bailey.
Sir Willem Penrose (Deceased) - A pompous knight who was a vassal of Lord Drysdale. He held the village of Burwych as a fief. On Godsday the 11th of Patchwall, 580 CY. he was killed by goblin raiders from the Chaos Scar who attacked Burwych and carried off his daughter, Dendra and other captives. Gwenn met both of them at the Tournament of Golden Leaves in 577 CY. She became a quick, if brief, friend with Dendra, but as quickly came to hate Sir Penrose, who shunned her for her bastard blood.
Splugg (Fate Unknown) - The only surviving goblin of Boontah's band. He was questioned thoroughly by the party, but gave little useful information, though he did treat them to a stirring (maybe to a goblin) rendition of the Goblin Song. Turned over to the outer bailey guard at the keep by the party. At the beginning of Session 5 it was discovered that Splugg had escaped from the Keep, and was being blamed for the death of Citirian's servant boy, Elm. The party quickly discovered than Splugg has most likely not been responsible for the boy's death, having almost certainly left the Keep by way of the privy in the tower where he was imprisoned. Upon journeying to theCrossroads to investigate the real cause of the death of Elm and their ambush by members of the Brothers Gray, they saw that Splugg had been imprisoned in a gibbet cage by a group of hobgoblins. When the party freed him, Splugg was so grateful he volunteered to be their faithful helper and gofer, as well as entertain them with his singing. With the real murderer of Elm revealed, on the word of Lord Drysdale, Splugg became free to move about Restwell Keep, though people were still cautious of him. Since then he has continued to serve the party, proving to be a good groom for the party's horses and keeping the stables at Oakshield Tower. He has also shown an uncanny ability with animals, training his donkey, Punchy to perform riding feats few talented horsemen and their mounts could master. He was last seen in the stables of Baron Bova's townhouse in Istivin during the coup of Brewfest 581, and his fate remains unknown.
Squire Halwyn Pryce (Fate Unknown)- The sub-commander of Lord Drysdale's guard in the inner bailey. He is a homely young man, with side-whiskers and a shock of wild red hair. While he is competent enough with sword and lance, and probably the best rider in Restwell, he does not really have the makings of command, being almost the exact opposite of his superior, Garrick Blackoak. Unlike Garrick he is a gentleman by birth, from a knightly family holding lands near Istivin. His fondest wish was to be given command of the hamlet of Cressock, which lies to the northeast of Restwell Keep, but was disappointed in this with Gwenn being awarded that charge, as well as that of Castellan of Oakshield Tower. Despite this and his inadequacies he is a decent enough man; sober, chivalrous and upstanding. He was left as acting castellan of Oakshield Tower while Gwenn was away at the Brewfest Council of Peers in 581. Given that Aksul Merrowman became the new lord of Restwell, Squire Pryce's fate remains unknown. He was a loyal enough retainer of Lord Drysdale, but having been passed over for command on more than one occasion, he may well have sworn fealty to the new lord.Voran Earthmane (Long Deceased) - A legendary wizard who had a tower in the Chaos Scar some centuries ago. The party successfully looted the ruins of his tower and recovered the Staff of Earthen Might from it.
Welund the Smith (Long Deceased) - A priest of Erathis, Knight of the Watch, and member of the Keepers of the Cerulean Sign who lived around two centuries ago, and transcribed part of the Codex Anathema.
Wurp the Eyebiter (Fate Unknown) - The court wizard and a retainer of Baron Rees Merrowman. He was trained at the University of Magical arts in the Free City of Greyhawk, although rumor says he was expelled for delving into forbidden knowledge. He has a reputation as a powerful wizard said to specialize in lightning and thunder spells. He was one of Baron Merrowman's champions in the judicial melee of Growfest 581 in Istivin.
