Amarone Della Valpolicella “Campo Leon” DOC. 2003. £32.00. Healthy fruit at peak ripeness is hand harvested and air dried for 100 to 120 days in small baskets. This wine has fantastic ripe, healthy fruit aromas, a rich and profound palate and superb, fleshy tannin and length. Balancing minerality makes this superbly drinkable.

Prosecco, DOC, Friuli Venezia Giulia. £14.30. A light straw yellow wine, fresh and fruity, with light notes of wild flowers and fresh fruit. Fresh, balanced and with beautiful fruity notes. The mousse is thin and well diffused and in the mouth it is soft and round.

This classic from the North of Italy is a delicious sparkler with aromatic pear flavours on the nose followed by a crisp palate of succulent apple and pear. Mille951, Gavi DOCG del Comune di Gavi £13.70. On the nose this is an aromatic wine with pear standing out as well as peach, apricot and yellow plum. On the mouth it is fresh, sapid, easy to drink with subtle almond flavours. Harmonious and balanced, with a good weight and flavour intensity, as well as fresh acidity that sings throughout and for an impressive time after. This is what Gavi is all about.
