After laparoscopic 'Re-recurrent' groin hernia repair
84 year old DEH says on 15/09/2012,
What a difference a surgeon makes! For the first time I met a member
of the profession who actually listened to me instead of seeing me as
an ignorant fantasist. At the first consultancy visit, Mr Viswanath
seemed very positive and as a result so did I. When I talked about
groin hernia as a golf ball size lump it became obvious to me that he
had a very clear idea of the nature of my problem. He explained that
he would be carrying out a pre-peritoneal type of operation. He also
informed me that he would fix the left-side “ticke” hernia at the same
time. The operation took place on 12th Mat 2012.
At the first post-operation consultancy visit in June, Mr Viswanath
explained details of the operation, which he said was more difficult
and longer that he expected. He described the procedures with the help
of very impressive photographs of the inside of my abdomen. Together
with the second consultancy visit he showed me, with the help of the
curtains at the window, that a noticeable gap had existed in the fatty
tissues inside the membrane, which he covered and closed by dragging
other tissue over the gap and securing it in situ (At least that is
how I saw things). It also appeared to me that the previous two
operations did not have a chance of succeeding in solving the groin
hernia.
In conclusion, to date there are no signs of any problems and so the
operation seemed to be 100% successful.Naturally since I have three
meshes on the right side and one on the left, there is some discomfort
from time to time, especially after physical effort. In fact the whole
treatment by Mr Viswanath throughout the consultancy, operation and
post-operative treatment was faultless.
